We had Ben's oral challenge with milk today at the allergy office. They gave him milk twice and he seems fine! Both times he had little red bumps under his mouth but they never itched and they went away on their own. The doctor wasn't concerned with them, so he considered us done!
I'm feeling excited but a little tentative because of the red bumps. And the doctor said to keep our eyes open for a delayed reaction. Keep praying!
When the doctor came in to tell us we could go home Ben told him "I love you". The doctor really liked that. He said it made his day. Me, I got teary.
When we got home, Ben said he wanted a cheese sandwich for dinner and sour cream mixed with chives for a snack. I didn't have any sour cream so he settled for some string cheese - which is an activity AND a snack! I got some good pictures that I'll post later - I promise. He didn't eat much of it and said he wanted to lay down afterwards. I'm hoping that's just because he's tired and not that he's feeling sick. I think we'll skip the cheese sandwich for dinner though. I want to see how tonight goes first.
Wow... it really hasn't sunk in yet though. I'll have to go back through and see what we've been avoiding for milk and what we've been avoiding for soy!
Here are all the things I've thought of that he can have now:
milk, butter (no more margarine!!!), ice cream, ranch dressing, sour cream, cream cheese, caramel, milk chocolate (!!!!!!!) cheese, real pizza ... wow! Pinch me!
