Restaurant reviews

I have not one but two restaurants to review tonight. Don't get too excited about my life. They weren't all visited in one day, or one weekend for that matter!

The first one is Em Chamas. If you have not done the Brazillian restaurant scene before, it is an experience! Basically, you are given a little card that has GO on one side and STOP on the other. They will keep bringing you large skewers of meat that they carve little tastings off of for you until you cry for mercy and put up the STOP sign. They also have a salad bar of non-meat things - some Brazillian specialties and some regular old salad bar stuff. The salad bar things were delicious. Most of the meats were great too, but nothing that I would rave about. Honestly, I would have been just fine eating only off of the salad bar. I'm glad we went, I'm glad I had the experience, but I don't know if we'd go back. Our company was great though (thanks for joining us Corleys!).

Next up: Bice Bistro (This is just the link to the Power and Light District, but the Bice link is pretty much useless). We went to this restaurant tonight. It's in the new and ultra-hip Power and Light District. This place was labeled as an upscale Italian restaurant. We got our menu and started looking at the appetizers. Calamari - usual. Crab cakes - usual. Chicken wings??? Uh.... I thought this was Italian? The waitress explained that they added a few things that might appeal to the Kansas City crowd. Ugh. My hope is that no one actually orders this kind of stuff and they take it off the menu. It was very jarring to read that when you're expecting "upscale Italian".
I ordered the risotto - one of my favorite dishes - and thought it was just OK. Scott got veal scallopini and it was very good. I would not rank it as a place that Scott and I would go back for date night, but I would recommend checking it out. There were a lot of things on that menu that I would like to try some time.
Ooh! And dessert, I almost forgot to tell you about dessert. We got a pizza with Nutella, apples, almonds, and berries on it with fresh vanilla gelatto on it. I will order anything with Nutella on it. YUM!
I'm hoping to get more restaurant reviews in the next few months since I'm guessing once Little Miss is born, we won't be seeing much in the way of restaurants. Unless you want my review on Panera.

Personally the Garden Vegetable soup from Panera is my all time favorite ever! They only have it on M-W-F....not even sure about during the winter. Just thought I'd share in case you ever do review Panera! Ha ha!
