A new spring in our step

Scott and I went to an orthopedic surgeon today to try a new avenue for this herniated disk. The doctor is a straight-to-business kind of guy. No small talk. He gave us a plan of attack - and what a relief just having a plan is!
So, the plan is to start an oral steroid for the next 6 days. If Scott doesn't feel any relief by Friday, we will schedule a microdiscectomy. This will probably be done late next week or early the following week. Recovery is not awful, as far as surgery goes, but he probably won't be completely back to normal by the time Little Miss is born. We'll see!
Scott walked around quite a bit at the doctor's office and that seems to have helped him a lot, which surprises me since when he gets up to go the bathroom it takes a lot out of him. I think it's a combination of feeling like there's a light at the end of this tunnel and him getting some exercise.
I'll keep you updated on his progress. Thank you so much for keeping us in your prayers and all the help everyone has offered us. I can't tell you how much this has helped us right now. We truly feel blessed by all the wonderful people we have surrounding us.

Great news - I'm glad you have a definite plan! Be prepared for Scott to be cranky while on the steriod.

Yeah, a plan. You are so right on how it can affect how you feel just knowing that it's not indefinite. Glad to see that they are going to try to make things better for Scott. Herniated disks are awful.
